Nuclear Test Puts Spotlight on Abolition

As North Korea continues to develop its nuclear weapons technology, international peace and security are increasingly disrupted and tensions in the region are elevated. In President Obama's State of the Union address, he remarked, "...our ability to influence others depends on our willingness to lead and meet our obligations." We will not succeed in removing nuclear weapons from countries like North Korea as long as the United States fails to lead on the issue of nuclear abolition. Read more »

Cut the Fat in the Pentagon Budget

PSR has been speaking out on cutting the nuclear weapons and bloated Pentagon budget for decades. With the pressure to reduce the deficit, there is impetus to cut the military budget. But under the sequester all discretionary programs will be cut, including many programs providing support for essential human needs. Because many in Congress wish to protect the military budget, it is essential to reach our elected officials to encourage additional Pentagon and nuclear weapons cuts. Read more »


PSR Rallies for a Healthy Climate

A delegation of PSR doctors in white coats rallied with 35,000 other concerned citizens to urge President Obama to take concrete action on climate change. PSR joined in calling on the president to reject the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry dirty, corrosive Canadian tar sands oil across the U.S. for export from Gulf ports. The rally, on the Mall in Washington DC, was the largest climate action to date in the United States. View photos of the rally »


PSR Chapters Meet in Florida

Earlier this month, 44 PSR chapter leaders, staff, and volunteers, representing 16 chapters around the country, gathered in Tampa, Florida for the 2013 Chapter Leaders Conference. Attendees learned best practices, chapter administration and outreach techniques, and held strategizing sessions for PSR's upcoming work in 2013. View photos from the conference »
