Health Voices for Clean Air

PSR's five-state "Health Voices for Clean Air" campaign, featuring public talks and Grand Rounds by PSR board member Alan Lockwood, MD FAAN and executive director Catherine Thomasson, MD, launched this month. The campaign raises the medical voice at a time when Congress is opposing EPA standards that protect health by reducing toxic emissions from power plants and other major polluters. New Climate and Health Organizer

Please welcome the latest addition to our staff. The Environment & Health program has just hired Brenda Loya as our Climate and Health Organizer. An experienced organizer, Brenda will work with the Chesapeake chapter to recruit and educate health professionals and engage them in advocacy on climate change issues coming up in the Maryland legislature.


PSR Decries Netanyahu Ad Making the Case for War

The rhetoric of war can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. As the election season heats up, ads like this one and statements making the case for military action against Iran fail to address the harsh realities of war. We need your help to make sure our political leaders understand that war with Iran is not an option. Take Action


No More Nuclear Loan Guarantees

PSR’s Safe Energy program feels that loan guarantees for nuclear energy is a boondoggle. PSR worked in coalition to add an amendment to block nuclear energy subsidies but this was defeated in the House. Instead the No More Solyndras bill was passed which closes the program to new companies but leaves the riskiest ones with their hands out. Read more


Student PSR to Fold 1,000 Cranes for Peace

A group of high school students from Hiroshima, Japan have launched a project to send 1,000 hand-folded paper cranes to the leaders of every UN member state. In the United States, SPSR has committed to match this symbolic donation with 1,000 cranes of our own, folded by members and students around the country, to show President Obama that we stand with these youth activists in advocating for a nuclear-free world.
